Savannah's Seamen's Club is housed in a private house - which consists of three rooms and a 2-acre garden.

Seamen's Club in Savannah is called Maritime Bethel and is located in the immediate vicinity of the harbor, right on the same access road to the city (193 Main Street, Garden City Savannah, Georgia).

It is hosted by a private house - which consists of three rooms - and a garden of ~ 2 hectares. The building was donated for this mission in a rather dilapidated condition, but has been renovated in the last year with the help of private donations and is now ready to receive its guests, although it still needs some improvements and modifications. It's not big at all, but it offers everything sailors need for a few hours of relaxation. The three rooms are divided and furnished very modestly, but provide sailors with several computers with permanent internet access, wireless internet to be accessed from their own laptops and a wide range of books and magazines.

The mission is equipped with several cars that offer transportation to and from the city, in exchange for a fee of $ 10 / person (round trip).

Jacob, the young volunteer who greeted us at the club and offered us transportation to the city (but also back) has been working on this mission only since last year and will be leaving for Washington D.C. in August. where he obtained a position of assistant professor at the same Faculty where he is also preparing his Master's degree. During his time working at Seamen’s Club, Jacob received accommodation - in a caravan located behind the building, food and very little pocket money, all raised from donations from various voluntary organizations. The money donated by the sailors is used, in particular, to supply the cars with fuel and to pay for the utilities of this house.

This building still needs a lot of improvements and will finally benefit from a real chapel, a library and a larger space to receive sailors.

It is open to all religious denominations, and until the renovation work is completed, pastor Andrew Krey - a former navigator, former employee of the U.S. Search and Rescue Center and Coast Guard - offers religious services on board ships whenever anyone so desires. something.
